Manzanillo Marine Services (MMS) provides professional ship husbandry services in the Port of Manzanillo.

After conducting an extensive study into the feasibility of services, demand for them, and environmental safety issues, API (La Administración Portuaria Integral de Manzanillo) contracts and environmental permits from SAMARNAT (Secretaria de Medio Ambiente y Recursors Naturales) have been issued to MMS.

Manzanillo Marine Services offers professional hull cleaning, propeller polishing, video inspections, thru-hull blanking, and metal cutting services to customers. These services are provided locally for the first time and are available 24 hours a day.

MMS is the only such service operating on the west coast of Mexico. Prior to the arrival of MMS, there had been no qualified personnel in the Manzanillo area. MMS owner and commercial diver with over 20 years experience, H.E. "Buzz" Teter is pleased to be a part of the enhanced availability of services, helping make the Port of Manzanillo a full service facility, and recognizes the value of hull cleaning to the shipping firms. "As fuel prices continue to rise, increasing operating expenses is an already competitive market; companies can reduce fuel consumption by up to 10% by maintaining a clean hull. Regularly scheduled hull cleaning at specific internals allows the use of softer brushes, thereby reducing the removal of expensive anti-fouling bottom coatings."

Manzanillo Marine Services maintains a full-time staff of commercially trained divers—in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910, Subpart T current in their first aid, CPR and oxygen administration training and their annual commercial diving physicals. Our comprehensive Safe Practices Manual and various other specific in-house procedures further ensure that all operations are conducted with safety as a priority.
